THE OBJECTIVE

Help Jimmy Fallon bring magic and connection to kids who couldn’t have visitors

It was a quiet Christmastime in New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even The Tonight Show was missing its studio audience. Jimmy Fallon, known for bringing laughter and connection wherever he goes, wanted to spread a little holiday cheer to children spending the Holidays isolated in hospitals – to make the season brighter and remind them that the magic of the season was still theirs.

Our challenge was to capture that warmth and energy under tight health protocols, creating a piece that felt joyful, cinematic, and personal — like Jimmy was reading straight to them.

THE SOLUTION

A storytime full of wonder, filmed with care

Just downstairs from The Tonight Show is one of the most magical places for kids in NYC – the famous toy store FAO Schwarz. Inside, we designed a production set that was both safe and filled with the whimsy and wonder of the season. Our small crew kept the set cozy and colorful, surrounding Jimmy with plush toys and soft light to create the feeling of Christmas morning.

We filmed Jimmy Fallon reading 5 More Sleeps ’Til Christmas to camera with his trademark mix of humor and warmth, bringing every page to life for the kids watching. Every production detail – pacing, tone, and visual composition – was built around one goal: making kids feel like Jimmy was reading just to them.

THE RESULT

Small moment of joy in a year that needed it

Featured on People Magazine
Illustrated book cover shows a child and a dog sitting on a bed, looking out a window at a snowy night. The title reads 5 More Sleeps Til Christmas by Jimmy Fallon in large red and blue letters.

Our Insights

Connection takes craft

This shoot called for precision, care, and a touch of magic – not spectacle. Every decision, from lighting to tone, was about delivering genuine joy. When the intent is connection, the wonder always finds its way on screen.
